Not Your Average PD: The November Reset
Not Your Average PD is a monthly reset for teachers, created by a teacher, designed to help you pause, breathe, and find steadiness in the middle of it all. This month’s theme, Grounded in Gratitude, invites you to refill your own cup, reconnect with small moments of good, and remember why your work still matters, even when the days feel long.

Professional development that gives back to you
This is for the teachers carrying the weight of the classroom long after the last bell. If you’ve ever wished PD actually poured back into you instead of draining what little you had left, you’re in the right place. These sessions give educators a space to pause, reset, and take care of themselves without guilt. You won’t just listen, you’ll breathe, move, reflect, and leave with short, practical resets you can actually use in your daily routine to regulate your nervous system and cultivate calm and clarity.
What to Expect
Each month, we gather as a community, not to add to your to-do list, but to lighten the load you’re already carrying. You’ll walk away with tools that support your well-being in real time, strategies you can actually use tomorrow, not someday when your schedule magically clears. This isn’t about cramming in more strategies or another checklist you’ll never use. Instead, it’s about:
- Decompressing from the month that’s just passed.
- Practicing simple, doable tools for mindfulness, energy, and balance.
- Resetting your mindset so you can teach with clarity and purpose.
- Connecting with other teachers who truly understand this work and the struggles.
- Reclaiming your energy so you’re not running on fumes.
- Building habits that support you beyond the classroom walls.
In this session you'll explore:
-
Gratitude-Based Mindfulness Meditations: a grounding, easy-to-teach tool that brings calm back to busy classrooms.
-
Journaling for Nervous System Regulation: how to use writing to move you from anxious and overwhelmed to anchored and calm.
-
Body-Based Gratitude Practices: small somatic resets that help you come back to the present moment (and model calm for your students).
-
Practical tools: gratitude circles, mindful check-ins, and simple reflection prompts
What You’ll Learn
This session is hands-on and interactive. No fluff, no extra to-do lists. Just real, relatable, and supportive tools you can put into practice immediately. Let’s leave behind the meetings and strategies that drain you instead of supporting your well-being. This is PD designed to refill your tank, protect your energy, and reconnect you with your purpose, because when you’re thriving, your students feel it too.
